BIOGRAPHY

Henry Kolker, born in 1874 in Berlin, made a significant mark in both theater and film before his passing in 1947. After moving to the United States as a child, he honed his craft on stage, sharing the spotlight with renowned actresses like Ruth Chatterton. However, Kolker is perhaps best remembered for his pivotal role in the iconic Pre-Code film *Baby Face* (1933), where he portrayed the elderly CEO seduced by Barbara Stanwyck's ambitious character. This film is a cornerstone of film history for its bold themes and has become a sought-after item for collectors, particularly in its early home video releases. In addition to his acting career, Kolker transitioned into directing, with *Disraeli* (1921) being his most notable work. Though now considered a lost film, its remaining reels are cherished by collectors, highlighting Kolker's diverse contributions to cinema. His appearances alongside legends like Katharine Hepburn in *Holiday* (1938) only add to his appeal among physical media enthusiasts eager to explore the depths of classic film history.
