The narrative centers around a senior Soviet diplomat who is abruptly recalled to Moscow while in Germany. On his train journey, he encounters a young woman nearing the end of her pregnancy. As they share the carriage, she engages him with stories of her life, creating an atmosphere of intrigue.

However, the diplomat soon realizes that her presence is not coincidental. This tension between the characters adds depth to the film's exploration of espionage and personal stories against the backdrop of historical events.
