The story centers on Aldar, a Buryat who has lived in Moscow with his mother. Following her passing, he learns he cannot inherit her estate due to his parents' unresolved marital status. He travels back to Buryatia to confront his father and finalize the renunciation of his inheritance.

The film delves into the relationship between Aldar and his father as they navigate their past and cultural traditions. Aldar's father agrees to sign the necessary documents, but only if Aldar spends a day with him, which includes attending a datsan, performing a shamanic ritual, and exploring their family heritage. This journey not only highlights their differing views on tradition and obligation but also serves as a means for them to reconnect amidst their personal struggles.
