The story centers on a man known as "The Black," who is on what he claims to be his final smuggling trip. Hired to transport a group of undocumented migrants, he has a desire to exit the smuggling world. However, his superiors are suspicious of his intentions and send a younger smuggler named Gavilan to monitor him.

As the crossing unfolds, tensions rise among the smugglers, leading to conflicts that result in a loss of part of their human cargo. "The Black" finds himself not only escaping the dangers posed by his associates but also evading the Border Patrol, adding layers of urgency and desperation to the narrative.
