A Dark Path is a real exercise in atmosphere, drenched in dread from the get-go. The film's pacing is slow yet deliberate, gradually tightening the tension as the sisters, Abi and Lily, find themselves utterly isolated. The sound design plays a crucial role, enhancing the sense of being swallowed by the dense forest, while the sparse dialogue lets the visuals do much of the heavy lifting. You can feel the weight of their predicament, especially when practical effects come into play during moments of terror. The director, though unknown, manages to evoke a haunting sense of vulnerability and despair, making you ponder the true horror of being lost—both geographically and emotionally.
