A Killer's Blues is that gritty action flick that really captures the struggle of a man trying to escape his past. You've got Wai Yat Ming, played by Ti Lung, who’s just out of prison after years of dealing with triad business in the U.S. The film's pacing feels almost deliberate at times, building that tension as Wai tries to reconnect with his girlfriend and adopted daughter. But then, of course, there’s the looming threat from Sun’s feuding family, which makes for some intense confrontations. The performances are solid, especially Ti Lung, who brings a depth to Wai’s character that makes you root for him despite his violent past. The practical effects add to that raw feel, making for some memorable action sequences. It’s not polished, but it has a certain charm that captures the era’s aesthetic well.
