A Maid's Bitter Story

The film follows Nurse Lin, who is employed by a wealthy family to care for Mr. Kao, a man driven mad by the loss of his daughter, Ling Kuan. As Lin resembles Ling Kuan, she is convinced to impersonate her to aid Mr. Kao's recovery. However, as the story unfolds, Lin discovers a complex web of jealousy, deceit, and murder surrounding Ling Kuan's death.

Through her investigation, Lin unravels the truth about Ling Kuan's tragic demise involving her cousin Yiu Tong and a music teacher named Qiufan. The film escalates as Lin and Qiufan devise a ghostly ruse to force Yiu Tong to confess to his misdeeds. The narrative culminates in a fire that claims multiple lives, providing a haunting conclusion to the tale.
