A Man and His Cage

The film follows painter Tino as he navigates a professional and political crisis after the death of his wife. He is confronted by the return of his mother-in-law, Selma, which complicates his already ambiguous feelings towards her. In a bid to escape these strained ties, Tino asks the maid Enedina to lock him in his room, where he reflects on his past through letters, notes, and photographs.

Selma's son, João, is also introduced as he waits for his mother at the airport, longing for affection from her.
