A Man of His Time

Set in September 1940, A Man of His Time follows Henri Marre, a 49-year-old man who arrives in Vichy as an authoritarian regime takes hold. Estranged from his family and financially troubled, he brings with him copies of his self-published manifesto, Notre Salut (Our Salvation). Henri is determined to secure a place in the new administration, driven by his belief in his patriotic convictions and an engineer’s focus on efficiency.

As Henri navigates the complexities of the regime, he serves the machinery of the new order with growing skill. However, his motivations may go beyond mere ambition; he might be seeking a way to escape the personal ruin he faces. This film's unique blend of history and comedy offers a perspective on a critical period while exploring the intricacies of personal struggle within political chaos.
