A revizor

The film follows the chaotic events that unfold when the corrupt leaders of a small rural town learn that an auditor is on the way from St. Petersburg. In a state of panic, they attempt to tidy up their affairs. Hlesztakov, a Petersburg official, finds himself in a dire situation, having lost all his money and relying on an inn for sustenance. A series of misunderstandings leads the town officials to mistakenly identify him as the auditor they fear.

As the plot progresses, the town's corrupt officials closely monitor Hlesztakov's every action while he navigates the fallout of the mistaken identity. The mayor's daughter becomes entangled in the drama, adding personal stakes to the unfolding chaos. The film culminates in a celebration from the townspeople, who expect Hlesztakov to return for a wedding, only to be met with a shocking revelation when the real auditor arrives, exposing the fraud.
