A Shoeshine Boy

The story follows Yeong-cheol, who becomes a shoeshine boy in the streets after the death of his parents. He faces the challenges of making ends meet while caring for his sick younger sister, Yeong-hui. Throughout his journey, he encounters various characters, including low-life criminal elements and new arrivals, all while striving to maintain an honest life.

Notably, A Shoeshine Boy shares the same title as Vittorio De Sica's classic Shoeshine. The film is recognized for its strong neorealistic approach, which was significant at the time of its release. Unfortunately, most of the film's elements have been lost over time; only four original sound negative reels survive today, totaling around 40 minutes of footage. For the viewer experience, title cards and production stills have been added to complement the narrative and visual elements that remain.
