A Story of the Forest: Mavka

The film follows Mavka, a water nymph, who falls in love with Lukash, a young man from a Ukrainian village. Their happiness is short-lived as Lukash faces pressure to marry Kilina, a difficult partner. The story takes a dark turn when the Spirit of the Forest punishes Lukash for his infidelity by transforming him into a wolf. Mavka's enduring love breaks the curse, but Kilina's jealousy leads to Mavka's tragic transformation into a weeping willow.
