A Tale of a Chekist

The film takes place in late 1943, amidst the backdrop of occupation in Odessa. The plot follows a new specialist named Kraft, who arrives at the shipyard and quickly ascends to the role of chief engineer. Unbeknownst to his colleagues, Kraft is actually a Soviet intelligence officer, hiding his true identity while demonstrating official zeal.

As the Soviet troops gain momentum and push the German-Romanian invaders out of Odessa, Kraft is faced with a critical decision. Following orders from the Center, he must leave with the retreating forces to continue his work behind enemy lines.
