A Yoke of Gold

Set against the backdrop of the California missions, A Yoke of Gold follows the story of Jose Garcia and his friendship with Luis Lopez, who embodies a Robin Hood figure. Luis is determined to take wealth from the rich and distribute it among the poor. Inspired by Luis, Jose initially plans to rob the affluent landowner Don Ortega but soon finds himself lost in the desert.

Rescued by Castro Arrellanes, the cousin of Don Ortega, and his daughter Carmen, Jose's perspective shifts as he recovers. The relationship he forms with Carmen leads him to reconsider his intentions to rob the rich. However, as the plot unfolds, Jose learns that Luis is still intent on executing their original plan, creating a conflict between loyalty and love.
