Accidental Legend

The film follows Xia-dou and Ji-dan as they leave their families behind in Thief Village to serve as substitute prisoners. Their predicament takes a turn when they are assigned a side job by the warden, utilizing their physical skills to infiltrate a heavily guarded examination ground. This leads them to swap exam papers and steal golden eyes from a lion chop, setting off a series of events that unveil a larger conspiracy.

As the plot unfolds, the governor's ruthless attempts to cover up his connection to the master schemer put the entire village at risk. The story explores themes of deception and fate, as the characters grapple with the realization that what they valued, including their cherished gold, may not be what it seems. The narrative builds tension as Xia-dou's great grandfather, a 125-year-old figure, seeks divine intervention amidst the chaos, highlighting the film's blend of adventure and philosophical inquiry.
