Francesco Corselli, a significant figure in 18th-century Spanish opera, composed this work. He served as Kapellmeister of the Royal Chapel of Madrid and contributed greatly to the Spanish court's musical repertoire. With over 30 compositions inspired by Metastasio's libretto, Corselli's influence on opera is noteworthy, especially in the context of his collaborations with renowned artists like the castrato Farinelli.
