Acre Dreams

The film centers on Azam Salameh, a Palestinian theater director, as he attempts to bring an autobiographical play to life in Acre, a mixed Jewish-Arab city. Set during the final days of the British Mandate, it tells the story of Salameh's grandmother, Layla, a singer, and Dr. Alfasi, the last Jewish citizen in Acre during the War of 1948. The narrative highlights the tension and emotional stakes involved as the play faces significant threats and ultimately never reaches the stage.

Acre Dreams serves as the only remaining testimony of this historical period and the personal stories intertwined with it.
