Paul Schrader's 'Adam Resurrected' is quite the oddity. It sits in this weird space between surrealism and drama, driven by Jeff Goldblum's performance as a Jewish man in an asylum after the war. The pacing's slow but deliberate, allowing for some haunting reflections on trauma and survival. The atmosphere is heavy, almost suffocating, which I think works to its advantage. The practical effects, particularly in the asylum sequences, add a gritty texture that enhances the film’s unsettling qualities. It’s a movie that asks a lot of you but rewards with its complexity and depth. Not everyone gets it, but I find there's something uniquely powerful in its strangeness.
