Airborne (1998) is one of those lesser-known action flicks that somehow manages to blend a heist narrative with a bit of government intrigue. The pacing is pretty steady, building tension as the special ops team, led by Steve Guttenberg’s Commander McNeil, infiltrates the thieves mid-flight. The atmosphere tends to be a bit gritty, maybe owing to its low-budget roots, but it has this raw charm. The performances, while not Oscar-worthy, have a certain earnestness that adds to the overall experience. It’s the kind of movie where practical effects shine—especially in the flight scenes—giving it a tangible quality you don't always find in today’s CGI-heavy landscape. It’s definitely a unique entry in the action genre, if not the most polished.
