In this film, the narrative follows Zhuai and his younger brother Mian as they navigate life after being captured and sent to a reeducation camp known as "Prosperity Camp." In this camp, they experience brainwashing through propaganda meant to reshape their thoughts. After five years of oppression, a change in government grants them freedom, which sets the stage for Zhuai's romantic journey with Xuelan.

As Zhuai and Xuelan seek solace in an abandoned industrial city, they find themselves in a deserted apartment, attempting to rediscover the simple joys of life amidst the remnants of their past. The film's exploration of human resilience and the quest for happiness in a bleak world adds depth to its science fiction and drama elements. This unique storyline offers a compelling look at survival and love in a transformed society.
