Almost Human is a gritty slice of 70s Italian crime cinema that really digs into the psyche of its lead, played by a rather unhinged actor. The film's atmosphere is drenched in a palpable sense of impending doom, making each scene pulse with tension. Lenzi's direction gives it a raw feel, almost documentary-like at times, which adds to the chaos and brutality of the narrative. Pacing is deliberately uneven, reflecting the protagonist's erratic mindset. You get a mix of practical effects that make the violence feel very real – not over-the-top but definitely impactful. The themes of desperation and moral decay hang heavy throughout, which sets it apart from other entries in the genre. It's quite a ride, for sure.
Disturbing yet compelling narrative.Character study of a morally bankrupt individual.Interesting take on criminal desperation.
