Alter for a Tutelary Deity

The film follows Hyun-bo and his wife, Soon-young, as they navigate their challenging life in the mountains. Despite their poverty, Hyun-bo finds joy in his wife's happiness and strives to fulfill her small dream of owning white rubber shoes. His dedication leads him to sell charcoal at the marketplace to make her dream a reality.

However, the couple's life takes a dark turn when the forest supervisor attempts to assault Soon-young. In a moment of desperation, Hyun-bo intervenes, resulting in a violent confrontation.
