An Adolescent is a rather raw and gritty look at a cop named Tomokawa who's just drifting through life, making sharp comments about his friend Sukemasa, who's dealing with his own challenges. The film has this languid pacing that really captures the monotony and aimlessness of Tomokawa's existence. The atmosphere is heavy, like a fog that just hangs over everything, and when Yoko enters the picture, there's this subtle shift in tone. It’s interesting how the film explores themes of connection and change without any flashy effects; it relies on the performances to convey the weight of Tomokawa's eventual transformation. Not a conventional love story by any means, but there's something distinct about its take on human relationships that keeps it lingering in the mind.
Features a unique take on male friendships and challenges. The performances are quite compelling, especially the lead.Pacing might not suit everyone, but it builds a certain tension.
