Anxiety of the First Birds

The film follows Sergeant Vasily Kalina as he returns to his village of Pastoron after recovering from injuries in the hospital. However, he finds his home destroyed by the retreating Germans, leaving him to grapple with the devastation of his surroundings. The former commander of the partisan detachment, Grigory Gorovoy, is tasked with leading the community's recovery efforts and appoints Vasily as the chairman of the collective farm.

As Vasily navigates his new responsibilities, he discovers that Claudia, the woman he loved before the war, has married Gorovoy, believing Vasily to be dead. This complex triangle of emotions amid the harsh realities of post-war life adds depth to the characters and their struggles.
