Anything to Survive is one of those TV movies that really gives you a feel for the wilderness survival genre. Zale Dalen directs with a straightforward approach, but there's a rawness to the performances that pulls you in. The storm sequences, while not groundbreaking in effects, manage to create a tense atmosphere that feels genuine. The pacing drags a bit here and there, but the emotional stakes for the father and his kids keep you invested. It’s got that late '80s/early '90s vibe, which some collectors really appreciate. If you enjoy films that highlight resilience in the face of nature's fury, this one has its moments. Just don’t expect a polished Hollywood sheen.
Originally aired on CBS in 1990. · Shot on location in Alaska, enhancing the realism. · Features practical effects for storm scenes. · Stars John Schneider in a rare dramatic role.
