Apparition of the Eternal Church

This documentary features responses from 31 authors, musicians, filmmakers, and dancers as they listen to Messiaen's 10-minute organ piece. Most participants are unfamiliar with the church and are challenged to interpret the music's spiritual and architectural significance. Their collective interpretations forge a complex aesthetic landscape filled with contradictions.

The film showcases the interplay between themes such as resolution and eternity, eroticism and asceticism, and spiritual ecstasy versus physical torture. The music becomes a catalyst for these artists to grapple with profound concepts while revealing their own artistic insights.
