Are We There Yet? is a bit of a mixed bag, really. Brian Levant directs this family adventure that leans heavily on slapstick humor, which might rub some collectors the wrong way. Ice Cube plays the hapless Nick, trying to impress Suzanne, while the kids provide that chaotic energy. The pacing’s a little uneven; it stumbles in parts but picks up with the road trip antics. The film captures some genuine moments of bonding and frustration, which feels oddly real amidst the ridiculousness. Not much in the way of practical effects, but the snowy Vancouver backdrop adds a nice touch. It’s lighthearted, and if nothing else, it’s a nostalgic snapshot of mid-2000s family comedies.
