Asteroid vs Earth is one of those disaster flicks that doesn't shy away from its B-movie roots. Directed by Christopher Ray, it combines a mix of action, adventure, and sci-fi with a somewhat ridiculous premise. The practical effects used for the meteors have a certain charm, even if they’re not groundbreaking. The performances vary, but some actors genuinely try to sell the absurdity of the script. It has this uneasy pacing that keeps bouncing between frantic moments and awkwardly slow dialogue. Themes of survival and human ingenuity emerge, but honestly, you’re mostly in it for the spectacle. It’s like a throwback to a time when many of these movies didn't take themselves too seriously, and that can be refreshing.
