Astraea is one of those eerie little gems that creeps under your skin. The atmosphere is thick with a sense of dread, almost suffocating at times. It leans heavily into that cold, ghostly autumn feel, which really enhances the horror elements. The pacing is deliberate, allowing the tension to build slowly, which might not be for everyone, but I found it effective. The themes of maternal love and sacrifice are woven throughout, giving it a bit more depth than your average horror flick. Practical effects are used sparingly but effectively, adding to the unsettling atmosphere. The performances, although from an unknown cast, carry a rawness that feels genuine. Definitely distinctive in its approach to horror, but it’s not for the faint-hearted.
