The story follows Stasio Tuchala, who struggles with farm work after his sister moves to America. His friends decide to help him find a wife, leading to a humorous matrimonial ad that misrepresents Stasio’s reality. As he attracts attention from local girls and a Ukrainian woman, the film contrasts his dreams with the truth of his life.
