Away from Home

The film centers on Selim, a 26-year-old man who has been mourning the death of his parents. In a bid to escape his grief, he enters the U.S. lottery for passports and wins, prompting him to sell his family's olive grove. This decision signifies a break from his roots in Turkey, as he leaves behind his girlfriend to pursue a new life in Manhattan.

Along the way, Selim's grand uncle Nasuhi returns from Russia after many years. Nasuhi's arrival prompts a visit to the olive grove of his youth, leading to a poignant moment of reflection on family and heritage. Additionally, they encounter Olga, a Russian girl who has faced hardships of her own, adding another layer to the narrative of searching for belonging.
