So, Azimuth is this interesting film set right after the Six Day War. It’s got this gritty, almost claustrophobic feel to it, given that it’s just two soldiers in the vast Sinai desert. The Egyptian and Israeli soldiers are pretty much forced into a cat-and-mouse game of survival. The pacing is deliberate, which really heightens the tension. You can feel the weight of their circumstances, and the performances are pretty raw—definitely not over-the-top or melodramatic, just real. The practical effects lend an authenticity to the war scenes, making the whole experience feel grounded. It’s not your typical action flick, more of a character study wrapped in a war narrative, if you know what I mean.
