Back Then

Back Then tells the story of Marta, a romantic high school student who navigates life alongside her sister Kasia and their grandmother. Their grandmother shares tales of insurgency rather than fairy tales, setting a unique backdrop for Marta's coming-of-age experiences.

The film portrays the challenges faced by Marta's parents, Tadek and Elżbieta, as they contend with personal ambitions and the constraints of their environment. Tadek, who makes moonshine after work, feels the weight of humiliation from the state, while Elżbieta is an active leader in the "Solidarity" union, yearning for freedom and a better life outside Poland.
