Baian the Assassin

In "Baian the Assassin," Fujieda Baian navigates the complexities of his dual existence. By day, he is a skilled acupuncturist, earning admiration from his community. At night, he transforms into a lethal assassin, targeting those deemed harmful to society. This film presents a unique narrative that intertwines themes of morality and survival.

The story unfolds when Baian is inadvertently attacked by swordsman Kosugi Jūgorō, who mistakes him for another doctor. This encounter sets off a chain of events leading Baian and his companion Hikojiro to investigate their next target, Chōbei Izuyaya, a seemingly innocent candle shop owner with deeper connections to Baian's assignments. The tension between Baian's two identities drives the plot, showcasing the intricate balance of his life.
