Bitter Morsel

The film follows a rural family that relocates to the city in search of a better life. As they navigate their new environment, the family faces numerous challenges, including unemployment and moral dilemmas. The unemployed husband searches for work, while the wife grapples with her suspicions about an old beggar they take in.

The children also face their own struggles; the youngest steals birdseed, and the eldest contemplates trading sex for food. The narrative intensifies when the beggar dies, leading to a critical moment of moral conflict for the wife, who finds a bag of rice in his room. Although she cooks the rice to feed her family, her guilt over the beggar's death haunts her, impacting her ability to enjoy the meal.
