Body Double is an intriguing mix of voyeurism and tension. De Palma really knows how to build atmosphere, layering sound and visuals in a way that keeps you on edge. The pacing is deliberate, almost hypnotic, as it draws you deeper into the protagonist's paranoia. The practical effects are impressive for the time, especially in a few key scenes that really highlight the film's themes of identity and obsession. Craig Wasson's performance as the lead is a bit understated but effectively conveys that growing sense of dread. It’s a film that explores the darker side of desire and the lengths people go to in pursuit of truth, or at least their version of it. Definitely a distinct piece in De Palma’s oeuvre.
