In Indiana, tensions rise as the United States and Great Britain vie for control over territory. Governor William Henry Harrison seeks the support of the Shawnee tribes, particularly through the character of Steve Rubbell, who has a long-standing friendship with Shawnee chief Tecumseh. The narrative explores the complexities of loyalty and love, as Tecumseh's leadership is challenged by his brother, The Prophet, who aligns with the British.

As the story unfolds, we witness the personal struggles of the characters, including Tecumseh's affection for Laura McGregor, who is in love with Steve. Laura's father, Shayne, complicates matters further by secretly supporting the British, putting his daughter's life and love at risk.
