Brot und Rosen

The story unfolds during the VII Party Congress of the SED, where a delegate recounts the journey of Georg Lendau. After returning home in 1945, Georg finds himself battling starvation and illness, but is aided by Mayor Kallam. Their paths cross again years later when Kallam, now running a heavy engineering company, aims to elevate Georg's career by offering him work and educational opportunities.

Georg's struggles highlight the conflict between ambition and the harsh realities of life. His refusal to accept help to pursue university leads to a series of pivotal moments, including a clash with his colleagues over work ethics.
