Bubbles tells the story of Fiete, who encounters his estranged friend Luca during a weekend getaway with his girlfriend Amiri at a seaside cottage. The film explores the complexities of friendship and the impact of past events on present relationships. As Amiri becomes aware of the tension between Fiete and Luca, she begins to see her boyfriend in a different light.

The narrative takes a turn when Amiri discovers Luca's connection to a right-wing political party, intensifying the already strained dynamics. The arrival of Luca's girlfriend, Katja, adds further complications to the situation.
