Byon Gang-soi (Garujigi)

The film centers on Gang-soi, a scoundrel who travels north, and Ong-nyo, a woman faced with the fate of widowhood. Their paths cross in Chongseok-gwan, and they form a bond as they wander through various landscapes. Ong-nyo takes on the burden of work while Gang-soi offers little in return.

Their story takes a dark turn when Gang-soi's actions lead to disastrous consequences. After retrieving a totem pole to use for firewood, he unknowingly incurs its wrath, resulting in his death. The tragic ending highlights the struggles and sacrifices faced by the characters, making it a poignant portrayal of human relationships under duress.
