Call the Shot is an interesting exploration of despair and connection. Set primarily in the intimate confines of a bar, it dives deep into a conversation between a bartender and a man on the edge. The pacing is deliberately slow, allowing tension to build naturally as layers of each character’s life are peeled back. Dean Parker’s direction gives it a raw, almost claustrophobic feel; you’re right there with them, feeling the weight of their words. The performances are quite striking—especially the lead, who brings a haunting sincerity that’s hard to shake off. The film's practical effects are minimal but effective, emphasizing the emotional rather than the visceral. It’s a compelling, if heavy, watch that lingers long after the credits roll.
