Campsite Killer (2012) is a curious blend of comedy and horror that doesn't quite fit neatly into either genre. You've got Jessica, who’s just trying to enjoy a movie night with her boyfriend Chad, but there’s a serial killer lurking in the shadows. The pacing is off-kilter—some scenes drag while others race by, which adds to the sense of unease. The practical effects, while not groundbreaking, have a certain charm, and the performances, especially from Jessica's best friend Bradley, inject a nice dose of absurdity into the tension. It’s this weird mix of campy humor and slasher tropes that makes it stand out. You can’t help but feel there's a playful nod to classic slasher flicks, while also being a bit of a parody. Not your typical horror flick for sure.
Cult following due to its blend of genres · Interesting take on the slasher trope · Notable for its practical effects and humor
