Canvas of Blood delves into the life of Prince Anpyeong, who, dedicated to his art, initially leaves governance to his brothers, King Munjong and Prince Suyang. The narrative unfolds as Anpyeong dreams of a utopia and commissions a painting, which ignites his interest in politics. His desire to bring his vision to life leads to a clash with Suyang, who has his own ambitions for the kingdom.

Set in the tumultuous era of the Joseon dynasty (1392–1910), the film captures a moment of intense political intrigue and personal conflict. As the brothers navigate their loyalties and ambitions, the stakes rise dramatically, testing their relationship and the future of the kingdom.
