Carnival

The story follows "Chick" Thompson, a puppet-master whose life takes a dramatic turn after the death of his wife during childbirth. Left with his infant son, whom he names "Poochy," Chick faces a custody battle with his father-in-law. To escape his troubles, he joins former assistants Daisy and "Fingers" in a circus act, but his grandfather remains on his trail.
