Carry On Camping is a quintessential entry in the long-standing Carry On series, directed by Gerald Thomas. It’s got a really delightful mix of silliness and cheekiness, revolving around the hapless Sid and Bernie. Their misadventures at Paradise Camp, which they mistakenly believe to be a nudist spot, create a perfect storm of misunderstandings and laughter. The atmosphere is filled with that typical British humor—awkward yet charming. The pacing is brisk, with a steady flow of gags that seem to multiply as the film progresses. The practical effects and costumes are hilariously dated, but they add to its charm. Performances, especially from the ensemble cast, are on point, each character bringing their own brand of eccentricity to the screen. It’s a classic example of campy humor done right.
