Central Station is a slow-burn drama that digs deep into loss and connection. Walter Salles really captures the grit and warmth of Brazil, using the bustling backdrop of Rio’s Central Station to contrast the personal journeys of the characters. Fernanda Montenegro’s performance as Dora is striking—she embodies weariness and hope in a way that feels very real. The pacing is deliberate, allowing the emotional weight to settle in, but never drags. The cinematography, with its rich colors and textures, adds layers to the storytelling. Plus, the film’s themes of isolation and redemption resonate deeply, making it a compelling watch. Just the way it portrays the country's landscape intertwined with human stories is something special.
