Cães Famintos presents four narratives that highlight various existential dilemmas faced by its characters. Bruno grapples with the challenges of fatherhood as he cares for his newborn while his wife, Helena, deals with postpartum depression. Meanwhile, Ronaldo, at 56, confronts his own mortality and the impending arrival of his elderly mother.

The film also follows Marta, a 17-year-old girl caught in the relentless pursuit of an idealized body image, and Jorge, a nurse whose passionate relationship with Ana leads to unforeseen consequences. Each storyline reveals the fragility of human connections and the emotional weight carried by individuals in contemporary society.
