Christmas Eve (2001) is a rather interesting horror-thriller that leans heavily into the claustrophobic atmosphere of a snowbound villa. The film plays with isolation really well, which adds to the tension as the characters find themselves trapped, both physically and psychologically. The pacing is a bit uneven, but it creates a mounting sense of dread that fits the theme of serial murder lurking beneath the surface. Practical effects are used here, and while they might not be groundbreaking, they add a certain gritty realism that feels right for the genre. Performances are decent; you can sense the dread in the air, especially as the characters start turning on each other. There's a rawness to the whole thing that makes it stand out among other holiday-themed horrors.
