So, Chrystal is one of those films that really dives into the emotional wreckage of personal tragedy. The pacing is slow but deliberate, giving you time to soak in Joe's angst and his painful journey back home. The atmosphere is heavy, almost suffocating at times, which perfectly mirrors the weight of his guilt. What struck me was how raw the performances are; the actors really sink their teeth into this material, especially when dealing with themes of loss and redemption. There’s not a ton of flashy effects, but the practical elements really ground the experience, making it feel very real. It’s distinctive in its portrayal of how a family copes—or doesn’t—after a monumental loss. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill drama.
