City Killer (1984) is one of those TV movies that really leans into the unsettling atmosphere. The pacing is a bit uneven, but it works to build tension as the story unfolds. You have this attractive young girl who becomes the focal point of her ex-lover's obsession, and the way that dynamic escalates is both creepy and compelling. The performances are pretty solid, especially for a made-for-TV flick, and there's an authenticity in the practical effects that adds to the overall vibe. It's not overly flashy but creates a sense of dread that sticks with you. Definitely a unique gem from the era that captures that particular slice of thriller filmmaking.
